Since I was eight years old, I’ve told anyone who asked that I wanted to be a veterinarian. My passion for helping animals and others has been a constant in my life. It wasn’t until my own experience with Eastern medicine in my early 20s that I understood not only how powerful it is for chronic conditions, but how well Western and Eastern medicine could work together.
During veterinary school, I became fascinated with the theories and practices behind acupuncture, herbal medicine, and food therapy. As soon as I was able, I attended the Chi Institute for training in acupuncture and food therapy, gaining certification in both. I also became certified to perform chiropractic adjustments in animals through the Options for Animals program. Finally, I was also certified in herbal medicine.
Something you should know about me is that I strongly believe in, and have the greatest success with, blending both Western and Eastern forms of medicine. My focus is firmly on making pets well again as quickly as possible, and I find that this often requires combining both forms of care. During your consultation, we will discuss problems and treatments from both a Western and Eastern perspective to formulate a plan for your pet in a collaborative, holistic way.
Erika is a referral vet only meaning you will need to continue to get Western care (vaccines, annual exams, blood work etc.) from your regular veterinarian. |
Erika can offer advice on next diagnostic steps but cannot perform any diagnostics herself and will always send you back to your regular vet for these. |
Erika is not an emergency veterinarian. If you have a serious concern about your pet, get them to an emergency vet right away or get them scheduled with their regular vet ASAP. |
Erika loves combining both Eastern and Western medicine to achieve the best possible result for your animal. This sometimes means she will use prescription medications or Western therapy where appropriate. She may even refer you to another practitioner if that’s what is needed to best help your pet. |
